John Boston, baptised in "Stepney" - COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 02 August 16 09:17 BST (UK) »
John Boston, son of Samuel and Ann, baptized 10 May 1767

FindMyPast simply says this took place in "Stepney"; but I also have a William Boyston, son of Samuel & Ann of Cath Wh Alley baptized at St Mary Whitechapel on 10 December 1769 and an Ann Boston, daughter of Samuel & Ann of Great Garden Street, baptized at St Mary Whitechapel on 20 December 1771.

If anyone with access to the registers for St Mary Whitechapel could take a squint and let me know whether that is the correct church for John's baptism I'd be ever so grateful. Also, if there is an address recorded, it would be good to know it.

Thanking all you wonderful people in advance ... as I know you'll come good. You always do  :)

The only record I can see for this baptism on FindMyPast doesn't say Stepney. No place is named, just "London" as the county.

St Augustine's was very near  St Paul's Cathedral.

Ooops - you're right, Shaun. Reading the wrong line of my notes! Some say Stepney, others say London. And thus do mis-transcriptions occur.

(Actually ... in the 1939 Register, I have a 9 person household where every single one of them except the first has the age and occupation of the person below given to them by the transcriber ... makes it devilishly had to search!)
