Long Shot!
« on: Tuesday 02 August 16 14:20 BST (UK) »
Trying to find out a bit more about the parents of Patrick Tennyson, he married Elizabeth Busher in 1888 in Birkenhead, Cheshire it was a second marriage for Elizabeth she had been married to Christopher Locke.
They had a daughter Sarah who eventually went to USA.
Any info re Patrick's parents or any siblings would be a great help. Here's hoping!

Do you know how old he was and have you got him on 1891 census?

Probably best to get the marriage certificate as that should give the name and occupation of his father.

There are births but hard to know which would be the right one without other information to cross check it with :)

1891 English Census indicates that Patrick was aged 33, so born about 1858. Occupation given as a dock laborer.  1911 Census indicates he was born in Tartarachan, Co. Armagh (properly Tartaraghan).

There are a few possibles for his father in Tartaraghan in Griffiths -- for the most part, the surname has been spelled as Tennison in these records.  Noted in Derrylard and Gallrock.

Found a baptism in the Catholic parish registers in Tartaraghan that fits -- Patrick, baptized 25 December 1856, of Thomas Tenneson and Sarah Yarkle (?); sponsors were David Yarkle and Bridget Courtney; of Derrylard.

Probate of the Will of Thomas Tennison late of Derrylard County Armagh Farmer who died 13 August 1898 granted at Armagh to James R. Wilson of Ennismore Cottage J.P. and Thomas Palmer of The Birches Merchant both Portadown said County. Will mentions nephew Patrick, etc.
