St Mary's Baptism Registers - MASON
« on: Sunday 28 August 16 20:01 BST (UK) »
Hello, i was wondering if anyone could shed light on the following record.  I'm researching Herbert Mason b. 1829. An online transcription (http://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/55106eede937907e5f1558bd?search_id=57c31ddf791e3b5c081e9014) matches most details, apart from his father's name is Thomas not James in other sources.  Would anyone be able to check to see if the transcription is correct please?

Many thanks
Gary

Wow, thanks for all the help, that's wonderful!

Never thought about marriage certificate, I've got the certificate of his first marriage, and father listed as Thomas.

Thanks for looking at the CD Carol.  That's that record that's causing the confusion. I've found another child George registered to the father Thomas.   As for the marriage, thanks Keyboard86 as well, I've got the image and the handwriting is terrible, it's either Porter or Foster, but looks like most sources think it's Porter.

I think I'll proceed on the basis that the parents are Thomas and Dorothy Porter but keep a look out for any James, unless anyone has any other ideas for explaining the two names.

Thanks again for your help.

Gary
