Doherty and Deeny in Inch, Donegal

Hi. I am researching Doherty and Deeny line - John Doherty was born in Grange, Inch, in October 1897. His father was Daniel "Inch" Doherty and Mary Deeny, married at St Johnston Chapel, Strabane, Co. Donegal Dec 30 1895.

Doherty (and variations) probably most common surname in Donegal/Derry area. Strabane in in Co.Tyrone with Lifford on the other side of the border which might mean a wider area for you to search. St. Johnston, however, is not that close to Strabane.

Could this be a possibility for the family?

You are a star! That's them! John is my grandfather. Daniel has a different spelling so that is possibly why I couldn't find them. Thanks so much. My grandmother is also Doherty from Buncrana so it's quite challenging but I've been more successful there. I was in Buncrana at the weekend and even met relatives I hadn't met before. Next time I can do some more work on grandad's side now. Cheers!

Sometimes less information into the search boxes is better  ;)
In 1901 I put in John's first name, County Donegal and age 3. Then sorted the results by surname alphabetically and skipped ahead to any variation of Doherty. Luckily you'd given his parents' names.

The numbers are not house numbers they are the number of the Census form.

It's usually only in large towns and citys where the form number and house number match.
Rural houses don't even today usually have numbers, which is why our new postcode system gives each house in the entire country a unique postcode.
