Marriage licence
« on: Monday 19 September 16 14:01 BST (UK) »
Hi all.

I am doing some research and on one of the records that comes up is for a marriage licence. Can someone explain the marriage process with marriage licence in the USA. The licence is in Ohio if that makes a difference

Regards
Jon

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but typically, the spouses-to-be will apply for the marriage license, so they can get married.  After they have a license, they get married.

There are details on Ohio marriage records here - https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Ohio_Vital_Records
