Looking for information on John, Letitia, Henry & John McCorry/McCory

Hi There,

I'm looking for some information on a Henry McCory who went from Ireland to NJ then Connecticut and back to NJ.

In 1920 he is living in Perry Ave, Shelton, Fairfield, CT with wife Margaret (believe nee Scullion but haven't found a marriage) and children Henry 6, Mary 5, Edward 1. As well as brother John listed as single and 40. Henry and John state they immigrated 1888. In 1930 they (minus brother John) are in Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey. His immigration year is 1890 here. In 1940 his wife is a widow.

I found a listing of Henry and his parents (john and Letitia) on the State of Georgia arriving in New York 13 Sep 1888 but no brother John. I am trying to find information on John & Henry and there parents in the US pre 1920. (I have what I believe is them in Ireland.)

You probably have seen these but they do confirm the parents you listed. U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007 - Edward Joseph McCorry - 23 December 1918 - confirms parents Henry McCorry and Margaret Scullion.
Edward passed away January 1978.

Also Henry John McCorry born 8 April 1913 and passed away August 1968 - Parents Henry McCorry and Margaret Scullion.

and Mary Margaret McCorry - (Mary McCorry Osborne) - 19 August 1914 passed away 27 January 1995. Parents Harry McCorry and Margaret Scullion.

I am trying to find information on John & Henry and there parents in the US pre 1920. (I have what I believe is them in Ireland.)

This appears to be Henry's WWI Draft registration. The address, 61 Perry Ave. matches  that of the 1920 census. This has his DOB as 1877 versus the 1880/1885 that was listed in the 1920/1930 censuses.

Thanks so much for the replies. I have seen the information on the children. I'm trying to not go too much into them until I can definitely connect these people or not. Hopefully the marriage indexes do come online so that may give me more information.

I've been doing some more searches through immigration records and have found a handful of listings for Letitia and John back and forth from Derry to New York. Their ages are varied (48-60) but I'm pretty sure it's the couple. They state on one passenger list they are going to Phila and have been there before. The interesting thing is other than the 1888 one with Henry they are on their own. It looks maybe Henry (and John?) are staying in the USA? I've got journeys in 1892, 1895 and 1901. And a return to Londonderry in 1898. I'm pretty sure that I have John's death in Londonderry in 1910. I haven't found Letitia in 1911 yet or her death.

What would be the next step to try and locate John and Henry if they did stay in the usa? The 1900 census?

Thank you RJ. That is his draft registration. The date on it 12 Mar 1877 corresponds with the birth certificate I have from Ireland. Son of John McCorry and Letitia formerly McWilliams. It was the draft record that started my search in the US. I am hoping to find more information on John and Letitia and their children to confirm or deny them as my family.

Does anyone know where I could find deaths for 1930-1940 in New Jersey? Or are they not available yet?

The would be John's WWI Draft registration giving his DOB as 1874. His address is also listed as 61 Perry Ave with contact person being Henry McCorry of the same address.

Interesting that they went to Phila - There is a FIND A GRAVE record for a letitia G McCory in Philadelphia born 1851 - 1905 - birth date would vary from that on the 1888 passenger list.

It appears John stayed in Shelton, Fairfield, Connecticut and married a Rose ?. It also appears John died between 1930-1940, probably in Shelton, Fairfield, Connecticut
