Help with Davies in Birkenhead
« on: Wednesday 12 October 16 18:46 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to locate my Great Grandfather Samuel William Davies' ancestors and had a quick question. I know from my grandads birth record, Samuel William Davies was living at 3 Victoria Road, Birkenhead in 1928 (both the county and sub district).

I recently found a Beatrice and Elias Davies living at number 3 Victoria Road Poulton cum Seacombe, Birkenhead in 1881.

Could there be a connection there or am I barking up the wrong tree?

You need to trace backwards from Samuel William Davies.

Who did he marry and when?

What was his fathers name on his marriage cert

When and where was he born?

Edit

There is a 1923 marriage on freebmd - Samuel Davies to Florence L Ruck in Birkenhead

www.cheshirebmd.org.uk shows it was at St Catherines in Tranmere

Hi Carolew, these are some of the questions I have been trying to answer for many months. Any ideas regarding the original post?

***Edit:Don't think that was him in 1923 although no way of knowing. The only info I have regarding Samuel is on my grandfathers birth certificate in 1928, Samuel is listed as living at 3 Victoria Road, Birkenhead. He is also listed as being a commercial wagon driver. That represents the totality of the information I have on him. And sorry yes, Dorothy Davies formerly Phillips is listed as the mother***

Hi,
Poulton cum Seacombe was in Wallasey not Birkenhead. Yes there could be a connection but Davies is a common name, more so if you can trace them back to Wales! Victoria Road, Poulton cum Seacombe was renamed Borough Road to avoid confusion with Victoria Road, New Brighton, also in Wallasey. No connection through the address to your grandad's birth certificate.
