« on: Sunday 24 July 05 15:02 BST (UK) »
Looking for William and Mary CRUTE / CRATE in 1841.
Both christened in Aspley Guise, would be down as 40 - 45 years of age.  Sons William, John, Daniel & Robert.  Youngest child Jane born late 1839.

thank you

Every Crute bar yours. Let me go through again. Still no.

Urgh! Just looked at IGI.  You didn't say Jane was christened in Woburn in 1839.  That's odd. Not in Woburn either. Looking at deaths on the NBI they should have been in Aspley Guise - Jane was buried there in July 1842.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas as to where they could be. Not in Husborne Crawley which is another nearby village.

Regards

David

Thanks David,

these will be related no doubt, so will not be wasted.  Sorry I didn't mention Woburn, I thought it was just the district on FreeBDM and would just confuse the issue!

Let's see, what have I for hints as to where they may be....
Son William married in Aspley Guise in 1845, they hadn't come to Australia yet.  Daniel Derby CRUTE married in Salford in 1851, he was in Derbyshire by the 1891 census.  Robert married Aspley Guise 1856 - still there 1871, 1881.   No idea, I thought they were in Aspley Guise.   ???

Thanks for looking,
Christine

I'm now thinking that the handwriting is bad and it just doesn't look like CRUTE - I've also had COUTE and CRATE come up in the IGI  (William White COUTE c 1796, on the IGI is my CRUTE)

Hi Christine

I went through Aspley Guise 4 times, very slowly, looking at christian names as well but still couldn't see them. In 1861 Daniel had given Salford as his birthplace but they weren't there.

Sometimes people simply got missed! But I will have another go this morning just in case - I hate being beaten!

Regards

David

Later - no, definitely not in Aspley Guise.

Hello David,

I really appreciated you looking again - and again  ;D
They may have been away visiting on census night, by design or just co-incidence.  I think I better try and get the parish records film and and make sure that who I have all belong to the one Crute family.

thanks again
Christine

Just a further thanks... that elderly Robert CRUTE above is my 5th Great grandfather  :D   and the 55 year old John is the right age to be his eldest son.

Hi Christine

Pleased that my searches were not a complete failure!  I had a feeling that with an unusual name like Crute they all had to be connected. Have you been able to find a christening for Robert on the IGI?

Best regards

David

Hi David,

No, Robert's baptism doesn't appear on the IGI - however I did find a reference to this family in the archives of the Rootsweb Bedford board.   This had Robert's date of death (26 Dec 1842) and a birthyear of 1760.  I did find an entry for the December quarter 1842 on freebdm.   There was also an entry for his 13 Sep 1785 marriage to Ann WHITE at Aspley Guise, this also isn't on the IGI so I'm presuming this person has been looking at records.

The LDS hold films covering this time so I should be able to check it out some time for myself, and tie all these names in.

Thanks for your interest.
 :) Christine
