Royal Artillery, Quebec 1837-1840
« on: Sunday 23 October 16 08:18 BST (UK) »
James Hadden born about 1804 served in Quebec ... two sons, Charles Hadden (Haddon) born Isle Aux Noix 1837, and Robert Hadden, born Drummondville. Wife is Hannah, and older children are Maryann and John, both born in Ireland. (James and Hannah were married 3 Dec 1833 at Clonmel, Tipperary. No idea of venue, or birth dates and places, though, according to family tradition, James was probably born in Dysart, Fife, Scotland.
James was injured and released/retired at 39yrs old. He took up a Royal Fencible post and he and Hannah moved the family to New Zealand in 1852, in board the Berwick Castle.
John died on the voyage (noted in Tasmania Australia). Maryann died upon arrival in NZ, and Hannah two days later. James died in 1857. Robert died in 1860. This left Charles (@20yrs), and minors Andrew and Louis (Luellyn).
Information from the 'Statements of Service' Royal Artillery 5 Battalion shows James Hadden's Soldiers Number as 338

Any additional information will be most appreciated.

Pension date 14 April 1846 (Pension record 5th Battalion).  Move to NZ noted in later pension records.
I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
