Elizabeth Shepherd

This is a bit of a brickwall!

I've been trying for ages to find out what happened to Eliza/Elizabeth Shepherd, the twin sister of my 2x great grandfather Charles Shepherd (both born 1827 in Aberdeen - their parents both died in 1848). He came to England some time between the 1851 census and his marriage in Worcester in 1856 and I've always wondered if she came with him.

Apparently not! I've found her on the 1851 census, still in Aberdeen, unmarried and working as a servant.

I cannot for the life of me find her on the 1861 census. However, I did find a marriage in Aberdeen in 1859 between an Elizabeth Shepherd and George Reid so I looked for them on the 1861 census and found them in Aberdeen but they are both far too young for it to be my Elizabeth (21 - she'd have been 34).

So, I'm back to square one! She may have died, of course, but I'm finding that difficult as well!

Any ideas?

I'd a quick look on Freecen & found a 23year old Elizabeth Shepherd, a servant, living at 263 George Street, Aberdeen (with the Leslie family).

Yes, that's the one trace of her I've found so far - on the 1851 census. Goodness only knows what happened to her after that.
