Deciphering a maiden name
« on: Monday 07 November 16 19:36 GMT (UK) »
Hello! I'm wondering if anyone might be able to read what Christina's maiden name is? To me, it looks like 'Inl...'? But that doesn't seem right. Any help would be greatly appreciated  :)

Oops - sorry I should've been more clear! Thanks so much for your reply Jan, but her maiden name is on the line under Christina Livingstone (Livingstone is her married name). sorry!  :-[

Ah, thank you so much both of you! One more, if you have the time :)
I'm wanting to know Catherine's maiden name in this one :)

If the first letter is a capital I it is odd that it extends that far below the line. The last letters do look like y-r-e though and nothing else seems to fit.

If I were you I would ask Scotland's People for a clearer copy, just to be sire.

Mc Intyre from me too. The longtailed I at the beginning is a bit unusual but that's the kind of cursive writing we used to do at school in Scotland in the past. However  we would have been punished for allowing our capital letter I's to descend  below the line!
