As you know the date you could look through the bmd announcements in the Glasgow Herald for a week or two after the death,

Bmds were on the back page at that time. The following link includes 19631023 meaning 1963, Oct 23rd. Just alter the digits to change days.

If no luck there then try the Evening times, a couple of pages in from the back,

Thanks for that Douglas, would you happen to know if they had funeral notices back then cause then that would say where and if he was buried??

The announcement of death in the local paper usually included details of the funeral. If you have a look at the Glasgow Herald you will see examples.

Unfortunately he doesn't appear to be in the Herald. You need the Evening Times of 24th Oct,

dont know if this helps see www.glasgowcrematorium.co.uk they have a book of rememberance could be there is an entery in it
