For my new website theawayend.weebly.com, I am, looking to delve into the history of such footballing accidents. I have several newspaper reports from around the time but the one thing I don't have (which I would like to include) is a match report from the game.
The game itself was an FA Cup tie against Stoke City on 9th March 1946 and it ended in a 0-0 draw. English football was still without a competitive league despite the war ending and the FA Cup was played over two legs. The first leg had already seen Stoke win 2-0 a week previous and that draw saw the Potters advance to the semi-finals.
If anyone can find a report on both games it would be gratefully appreciated.
