Ledraham
« on: Sunday 20 November 16 17:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
Can anyone clear this up please?
In 1891 John 33, a coal miner & Elizabeth 32 Williams are at Danncey’s Court Pontypool with their family of : John 22, Alice 7, Mary Jane 6, Ledraham ? (son)6, Lewis 3, Joseph 1.
RG12/4361/103/14

In 1901 they are at 17 Grove St, Newbridge. Ledraham seems to have become Sarah A and there’s a younger Sarah A.
John 44, Elizabeth 39, John 21, Alice 18, Sarah A 16 (daugh), Mary J 16, Lewis 14, Joseph 11,
Isaac 9, George 7, Sarah A 5, Elizabeth 1.
RG13/4967/83/15

I have them in 1911 at same address (Elizabeth is a widow) but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to give details? (Ledraham / Sarah Ann / now seems to be Zebra?
Thanks for any help.

As original poster you can give details of the 1911.  You are not allowed to ask for them and we are not allowed to give them to you  ;D

What was the maiden name of  Elizabeth

Thanks Rosie and Mar,
1911 family is still at 17 Grove St.
Elizabeth is widow 51, John 31, ZEBRA 26, Lewis 23, Isaac 19, Henry 17, Sarah Ann 15, Lizzie 10, Elsie 8, Sevilla 5.

Looks like a toss up between Sybil Ann (fav) and Sabor Ann.
How on earth did the enumerators get Ledraham and Zebra from either of those? Their hearing must have been on a par with mine.

Rosie, I don't have mmn, but I guess you've probably answered that one.

Many thanks,
Rob

Maybe it was not the enumerators hearing but the way that the name was spoken.  I wonder who completed the form in 1911, possibly one of the children who could write.  Forms would have been completed for the enumerator on earlier census too.

I wonder what happened to her after 1911
