Medal Card WW1
« on: Monday 21 November 16 19:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi this has probably been asked before but what exactly is the "Qualifying Date" on the card.

It says Theatre of War (3) Egypt
Qualifying Date 7/11/15

Is this the date he went to Egypt or the date he joined up?

Another medal card showing instead

Theatre of War first served in (1)    ( i know this is France)
Date of entry therein 9/6/15

again is this the date going to France or the date of joining up?

thanks Evelina

Hi, as far as I am aware the Qualifying date is the date he actually set foot in the war zone, so to speak.

Regards

Hi, back again, I may actually have read the post wrong  :-[ looking at the dates you mention, it is most probably the qualifying dates for the "Star" medal, so yes it was when they set foot in the theatre of war.

I was getting mixed up sorry.

Some  qualifications for a Star  or a medal may have specified  a certain number of days in that theatre.       For some Stars   the man or woman  would only need  one day in the theatre   to qualify   for the medal.
