looking to talk with SUSY W
« on: Tuesday 06 December 16 14:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi...hoping to find info on parents and family of John Bennington and Sarah  Pentecost, married 1881.
My grandmother was their daughter, born in Goulbourn. Is there a connection with Sarah Annie Etches ( nee Amery) ??

I'm not seeing any matching marriages on FreeBMD, so I suppose the marriage wasn't in England or Wales?

Aha! Found it in New Zealand! ;D

There is a birth record of a Sarah Annie Pentecost in 1860 -

Mother's name - Frances
Father - William Thomas Pentecost

To ensure you have the correct Sarah/John it would be advisable to purchase their marriage cert.

There is a birth in 1859 for a John Bennington and just to confuse things the mother is also Sarah, this couple arrived in NZ in 1859 aboard the Victory

This appears to be a newspaper item but I can't find it on Papers Past

The ministers name may well be Rev. Dr. T. R. Cairns minister of St Davids Presbyterian Parish Sydenham from March 1880 to March 1887
