William George SCOTT
« on: Wednesday 07 December 16 20:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi
The Scott family are again causing me problems!! I have William George Scott baptism records from Ancestry stating he was born 21 April 1859 and baptised 22 May 1859 Wesleyan Methodist Church Blyth and Seaton Delaval Circuit son of John Scott and Catherine- I tried to get birth certificate in an attempt to find an address for the family who have spent 15 years in India and moved north from Chatham Kent. General Records Office has no record does anyone have any ideas where I can look - the 1861 census has there address is Ironworks Bedlington.

The address for the family in 1861 was simply "Iron Works"? The same as the rest of the page!

Does this website hold any clues?

The name Ettrick stands out by far & associated with Scotland (just over the border)

I wonder if John Scott had Scottish connections there as it's only over the border from Northumberland?

If GRO have no birth record then no-one will.

If he was born in Bedlington, this was in Morpeth Registration District.

Have you then discounted the possibility he might be George Scott, born 2nd q. 1859, Morpeth 10b, 261?

Jen,

Are you meaning he was baptised in one place but registered in another?

That could be a good possibility.
