Deciphering cause on death certificate
« on: Sunday 11 December 16 04:27 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I'd really appreciate some help deciphering the cause of death shown on this section of a certificate. The script is very sharp and tight

I *think* I can make out (though am not confident with it all)...
"Supposed to have - - of blood - - in chest - Death instantaneous", followed by a signature

Many thanks for any suggestions about any of it

Alex

chest
Death instantaneous

Hello, and thanks to you both. Wow! What quick replies and really helpful. I think you've cracked it together - perhaps "Supposed to have been -- of blood vessel in chest"?
Many thanks

Is it Dunse, after fiscal?

(As in Dunse the town? )  :-\

James Curie Robson seems to have been the procurator of Berwickshire. He lived in Dunse and died in 1878.

Brill Ruskie!...think you're right  :)

Strangely, when I saw the writing I thought it looked like a Scottish cert!

Didn't think of a town name at the end though but I do see 'nse'

Hello Ruskie - thank you! - I think you are quite correct. I had managed to work out the Procurator Fiscal (thanks for confirming that, Annie), but Dunse would be exactly right, geographically, and the extra information about Robson is useful

How amazing to find out so much at this time of the morning  :D

I see CoD as:

Supposed to have
been rupture of
blood vessel in
chest.
Death instantaneous
