Numbers of people using Rootschat on Christmas Day
« on: Sunday 25 December 16 13:28 GMT (UK) »
I notice that a record number of users were on Rootschat on evening of Christmas Day 2012. I wonder why?!  Will the record be broken this year?

That's interesting but more interesting is how you found that out?

I wonder if it has anything to do with family events at this time of year?

For myself, my g g/mother was born xmas day 1864 & my mother passed away on boxing day 1984.

Rosinish asks how I know the number using Rootschat. Simple - if you scroll down to the bottom of the page listing all the boards it tells you how many people are using it currently. Also states the record number.

I think I know why the number was so enormous on Christmas Day :
1. People have free time
2. They are fed up/bored with their family by that time of day(20.30) and want to escape

3. I suppose they could have acquired new computer or tablet for Christmas?

Any other suggestions?

Thank you belfordian,

Can't say I've ever noticed.

There's always the 'one' family member who's interested in genealogy & at family xmas dinner, divulge a few things which get other's interested......

They can't wait for said family member to disappear so they can find out for themselves i.e. google the names of the people of interest/places etc. which probably eventually directs them here?  :P
