I am resuming my search for my great grandfather, John Hammer Harry who I believe arrived Port of Adelaide 1858 aged 20.. I have the passenger list and believe he fits the limited detail.
My JHH was bpt.1837
BISA ( Biological Index of South Australia )
HARRY John Born c1837 CON ENG
Arrived 1858 STORM CLOUD
0ccupation Miner   Religion Church of England

I have not been able to trace him again until he married Elizabeth Ann Wellington 3 Jun 1865 at Beechworth Victoria.
They settled El Dorado Victoria and raised a large family.
His obituary states that he came to Victoria in 1858 , suggesting that assuming it is him he almost immediately came to Victoria.

I have noticed that his bride's family ( Wellington) may have spent some time at Forest Creek Victoria when they first arrived Victoria.
They also settled El Dorado.

I would appreciate help in tracing him after he first arrived Australia.
Wyatt and Wood of Glossop, Derbyshire. Longstaff of Bishop Auckland,Durham. Harry of St Austell and St Kew,Cornwall. Charters of County Antrim.Knight of Warwickshire.Hendy of Ballyedmonduff.

Thanks
I certainly have.
I originally thought that was him but discounted because that person described as Irish and mine from Cornwall.
I admit it would give him time to marry in Beechworth June 1865.

I am currently examining a possible obscure sighting in 1859.
Please refer  http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/5691054
This relates to a charge "shooting with intent to kill" before Castlemaine Circuit Court.
Just a guess but might be him.? was he sentenced.

Thanks Cando
Sorry if I am causing confusion.
I thought I had resolved but today I found reference to a criminal trial 1859 which "might" be him.http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/5691054
I need to find outcome of trial , should it be him , where he was found guilty.
I believe his bride to be might have gone to Castlemaine area before both settled El Dorado.
I acknowledge that there could be descrepancies on some of the records making positive identification impossible.

There were a number of John HARRY's in Victoria.

Including
Forest Creek - wife  Jane WHITE
Castlemaine - by 1855 - wife Mary Ann SULLIVAN.  Also on Electoral Roll in 1861.
Ballarat - wife  Margaret ROBERTS
El Dorado - yours.

The incident you linked occurred at Back Creek which appears to be near Talbot however there is also another near Creswick.
