Newspaper look up request
« on: Wednesday 01 February 17 17:06 GMT (UK) »
If anyone is able to look in Hull newspapers (other than the Hull Daily Mail) for a report on this incident I should be very grateful.

On 27 January 1900 Thomas Morris died by his own hand at Sculcoates. He was not a local man. An inquest was held by the Hull coroner on 29th and the death was registered on 30th with a coroner's certificate.

The Hull Daily Mail of 30 January 1900 had a short para about the death but I have not found anything else online about the inquest.  I believe there were other local papers at the time and perhaps someone with local knowledge and time to spare could have a look for me.

Following my enquiry elsewhere on the forum I have written to the coroner's office in case they have retained files but from other experience it is unlikely.

If it was newsworthy it might have appeared in a paper local to where he had come from but you don't say where.

Thanks for the nudge.  He had lived in Wigan, and I have set the hounds on there, too.
