Unable to open Word and Documents

I am unable to open Word and Documents.
Notice says : 

Click to run Application Manager
Microsoft Word Starter 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in Control Panel

Please how do I achieve this.......very simple terms please.

I don't use the software, but by googling for answers I would suggest the following approach:

Follow the instructions in this youtube video to try and repair the software.

If your version of Windows is different to that shown in the video, there are written instructions to do the same thing in different versions of Windows here:

If that doesn't work, you can try the instructions KGarrad posted to re-install the program.

When following the instructions make sure there is a "Microsoft Office 2010" available from the list of installed programs as you will need that to reinstall Microsoft Office Starter 2010.

As an alternative way to fix the problem, you can try and restore the system to an earlier state.  There are instructions on how to do that here:

If all that fails, and you want to open your word documents, you could install the free office suite
https://www.libreoffice.org/ as an alternative.
