John William EGAN birth

Would be very grateful in finding a birth cert for John William EGAN.
On the 1939 register & his military records his dob is 4th Jan 1898, born Barrow in Furness.
On his marriage cert 1923 he is aged 24, Fathers name John, both occupations Labourers.

There is a John William Egan on the 1901/11 census living in Stretford, but he is not the correct man.

The only John Egan born in Barrow I can see in the right-ish timeframe is John Joseph b 1896, son of Patrick and Rachel.

i can only guess his mother married an Egan sometime later and he's taken that surname

there is a John Egan in Barrow, but he does not have a son called John until 1910

Army record gives his father as John Egan of  1 Chandlers Square, Eccles in 1919

transcription error
As all indications would point to Barton On Irwell which with some handwriting could be misread and mis-transcribed as Barrow.
Just a thought to throw in the mix

Thank you all for your input. Its given me something to work on.
I think the address on his military record should read
 1 CHANTLERS SQ, Eccles.
I will try & track this address on the 1911 census to see if it can offer
any insight.
