I wonder if I could have some help Elizabeth Herbert is the wife of Vere Smith born about 1755 Monmouthshire.  Im looking to find a marriage record for them and which parish they were married in.  I might have year of birth wrong for Vere Smith my 5 x Great Grandfather as he seems much older than Elizabeth Herbert their son Vere Herbert Smith was my 4 x Great Grandfather  birth 1778 to 1860 Married Elizabeth James in Monmouthshire.

Anyway Im looking to find out if Elizabeth Herbert was related to the Herbert family of Abergavenny. Also keen to find out more Vere Smith's family.

Can you confirm Elizabeth's date of birth - if she was born 1710, as your subject heading says,  she isn't likely to have a son born 1778? Or was she born 1755 and Vere born 1710?

There is a marriage 4th March 1776 Chepstow of a VERA Smith to an Elizabeth Jones?

Thank you for your replies I have been searching for a birth record for Elizabeth Herbert and also a birth record for Vere Herbert Smith born 1777 to see if Elizabeth Herbert is mentioned as his mother.  As my thought is that the Herbert as his middle name has been passed down through the generations.    It would be good if someone could see if Elizabeth Herbert is mentioned on Vere Herbert Smith birth and also to find a birth record for Elizabeth Herbert and also see if she married Vere Smith and yes I have also see that Vere Smith married Elizabeth Jones 4th March 1776 Chepstow, Monmouthshire.  Im wondering if there the right parents for Vere Herbert Smith born 1777.  Also looking at the baptism records I can t find a baptism going that far back for Vere Herbert Smith born 1777 and would welcome help with this.
