1851/1841 census Llanelwedd-Radnor
« on: Thursday 28 July 05 10:19 BST (UK) »
Am trying to find out something for an acquaintance.

Benjamin JONES, born ca. 1827 Llanelwedd, Radnorshire, son of John JONES and ?

In 1861 census Benjamin is living in Bedwelty, Monmouthshire with his wife Mary (Williams, nee Hughes) and children James, William, David and step-children Lucretia, George and John Williams.

Benjamin's birthplace at that time listed as Llanelwaith, which probably should be Llanelwedd.

Trying to find Benjamin's parents. Any help appreciated!

Greetings,

It keeps me off the streets ;)

Hi Kya,

I'm afraid this isn't going to do you much good, as Benjamin wasn't living at home!

1841 Radnorshire Census
Colwyn Hundred
Parish of Llanelwedd

PRICE, John,  30, innkeeper, Y, Groe House, f7/p8
PRICE, Elizabeth,  33, Y, Groe House, f7/p8
PRICE, John,  6, Y, Groe House, f7/p8
PRICE, Ann,  4, Y, Groe House, f7/p8
PRICE, Benjamin,  2, Y, Groe House, f7/p8
ROGERS, Elizabeth,  14, female servant, Y, Groe House, f7/p8
JONES, Benjamin,  12, male servant, No, Groe House, f7/p8

However, I'll send you all the Jones names on the 1841 Census and maybe you can figure out his family from the christian names.
Also, it says he wasn't born in the parish of Llanelwedd, so perhaps that may help to identify the right family.

All the best,
Seattle
Radnorshire - Morris, Mills, Vaughan, Crowther
Glamorgan - Thomas
Pembroke - Thomas
Sussex - Rogers
Lancashire - Ormerod, Shields, Bentley
Cumberland - Shields
