Ancestry, in my opinion, is better for passenger lists as it shows UK arrivals as well as departures .

The fact that message says transcription and image looks more like FindMyPast than Ancestry, but as BrazilianBombshell said they are on both. FindMyPast and Ancestry often have free weekends or special offers.

Unfortunately, did not write down where it came from but stored it in my drafts folder.  Was going through that today and came across it.  Am sure if came from this site, but could be wrong about that.

Most of my genealogy tasks have been done via Family Search Org, Scotland's People's, UK Archives and Canadian Archives.  Was lucky enough to get in on a lot of the free information from Australia and New Zealand plus get info from cousins there on the Herd family. Now realize much of it is has been taken over by Ancestry.   I am looking for any additional info that is available but not too willing to pay for it unless it is from an Archives or Scotland's People's site.  OR from a relatives in Canada or world wide.  I am now researching for mostly relatives in the 4th generation beyond myself tho do have two female grandparents - both  3x great grandmothers who I am presently stuck on.  One is from Ireland and the other from Scotland and born aboard a ship in about 1800.  Believe she was coming to Canada and thought if this site goes back that far would look on this listing.  I am stuck also in Shetland's for my some o my 5th grandparents and the records don't seem to go back that far.  Mind you keep looking to see if there are any more released.

Thank you to all who replied.

Sorry, Groom, you're correct, they both have passenger lists departing UK, Ancestry carries both, arrivals and departures.  During the £1 Xmas offer for FindMyPast I wanted to check arrivals and sent an email to them asking where I could access their arrival records, only to be told FindMyPast do not hold those records.

Just doing a quick check on the first one:

Lawrence Bruce Laurenson who was a 27 year old Stock-keeper left London on the 8th September 1938, destination Singapore. Sailed on the Ranpura. Last address in the UK was 295, Coventry Road, Ilford.

This is what Tony Gott has on this man:
Laurence Bruce Laurenson b. 3 Jan, 1911 in Lerwick,Shetland.  Death not shown but am wondering if he could be the person with a tombstone in South Africa??
Laurence B was born to Capt. George Laurenson b 23 Sept, Sandsting, Shetland and died in London 8 May, 1956.  His wife Barbara Laurenson b. 13 January 1879, Aithing, Shetland death not shown.

The L B Laurenson who sailed to the Gold Coast in 1937 was the same man i.e. Laurence Bruce as the same address is given. So he obviously sailed to the Gold Coast in 1937, returned and sailed to Singapore the following year. His occupation is given as store keeper rather than stock keeper, so one must be transcribed incorrectly.
