Heaps Family - 1861 Census Look Up
« on: Saturday 01 April 17 11:34 BST (UK) »
I am trying to locate the Heaps family unit in the 1861 Census without success......
Parents John & Sarah(Healey) m. 1852 (Liverpool), sons William b. 1853, Thomas b. 1855, Edward b. 1857, & Robert b. 1860.
In 1855 at the time of Thomas's birth the family resided at 54 Sandbach St. Monks Coppenhall. Likewise in 1860 at the time of Roberts birth they were all still residing at 54 Sandbach St. However in the 1871 Census the complete family had already relocated to 14 Goddard St., Monks Coppenhall.
Unfortunately they have proved, and are still proving, to be totally elusive in the 1861 Census. Perhaps a fresh pair of more experienced eyes may uncover their whereabouts. Any help/suggestions will be much appreciated.

Robert's baptism was on 11th November 1860, at Christ Church, Crewe.

Have you tried putting Sandbach Street into the search for 1861.
RG9/2617 f178 p54 has no 59 but the page is half missing, I cannot see the rest of the street  ::)

The front page says that there are 59 houses but as Rosie99 said, the last couple of pages seem to be torn. The houses are all listed in 1871.

Many thanks to KGarrad, rosie99 & heatherjulie for your quick responses. The whereabouts of the Heaps family is still a mystery. Could either of you confirm the 1861 occupiers of No. 54 Sandbach Street please as I do not have any access to Census records at present. :-[

The page for 54 Sandbach Street is not there. The record is torn.

Thanks HeatherJulie. At least I know that sometime after December 1860 & before April 1871 they moved to Goddard Street. It's always disappointing when a Census page is missing or damaged.

Interested to see this post as I have been trying to find a family called Appleton, who were also in Sandbach Street around that time. Have all the properties in that street been lost?

I put Sandbach Street into 1861 as a street search with no names and it brought up a list of 24 people & 24 with no names - when I looked at it the page as said previously is ripped in half -both halves have been indexed separately on FindMyPast.

Ancestry you need to search with the reference I gave though looking again on Ancestry which is where I found the number the folio could be 17B  :-\

I can only see numbers 58 & 59 though, there are no relevant pages either side as though they are just 'odd ones'
