Hi
Looking to find Alice in 1901.
She was born in Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire around 1868/69, daughter of Agar Vautrey and his wife, Alice.
She can be followed with ease in 1871, 1881, and 1891, then disappears.
She reappears in 1911 living in West Thurrock, Essex, where she is listed as being a housekeeper to William Harper.
She has a son, Claude Vautrey, born c 1903 in Glasgow, with her.
I am researching a tree for a friend, who is convinced that Claude was William's son.
William Harper had married Margaret Wilson in Sunderland on the 8th July 1891 and the couple had two sons, Andrew and John Wilson Harper, born in 1892 and 1893 respectively.
William is also missing from the 1901 census (or difficult to find); his son, Andrew, is with William's parents, Andrew and Charlotte Harper, whilst his wife, Margaret and son, John Wilson, are still in Sunderland, visiting a Stephen and Margaret Wiseman.
Margaret confirms that she is still married.
She does so in 1911 too, when she can be found with her sons, living in 27 Church Street, South Hylton, where she was a boarding house keeper.
Can anybody find William Harper (born 1870 in Loanhead, Midlothian), or Alice Vautrey, born 1869, Lancashire, in 1901?
Thanks
Sue
