Giuseppe DiFINA
« on: Saturday 08 April 17 22:35 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find outgoing passenger records for Giuseppe DiFINA. Between the years of 1920 and 1932, he made a number of trips to Australia where he worked for a period of time and then returned to Filicudi, Sicily to his wife and family. I have found a number of incoming records in that period but cannot seem to find outgoing passenger lists. If I could find outgoing lists, I could perhaps eliminate some of the dates I have found for incoming passengers. To my knowledge, he worked in Victoria, probably close to Melbourne, in some sort of activity involving trees - possibly land clearing. As this man was my husband's grandfather, I would really like to add to his knowledge of the man's life. Any assistance or suggestions would be welcomed and greatly appreciated. Giuseppe was born in Sicily on 23 Oct 1892 and died on 15 June 1932.Thanks, Maxene

Outgoing passenger records from Victoria to the United Kingdom, New Zealand or Foreign Ports are only available between 1852 and 1923.

Long shot (different spelling)
But could this man be a relative who Giuseppe was visiting?

It is entirely possible Ros. The Giuseppe DiFina I am following up passed away in 1932 but he obviously knew people or had connections with people in Australia and was able to pick up work each time he returned to Australia. I did not realise that there were so many Giuseppe DiFinas until I started this search. Most people in Filicudi would have been fishermen I should think - it is quite a small island. I'll keep  searching. Thanks for this link; it could be useful. Maxene
