ATTWOOD & IRELAND
« on: Tuesday 11 April 17 04:11 BST (UK) »
Hi there,  Looking for some help with Charlotte Mary ATTWOOD b.1881 Newington, Kent and John Thomas IRELAND b.c.1878.
They married 1901 Milton, Kent.
John died 1914 Malling, Kent.
I believe Charlotte Mary IRELAND nee Attwood died 1956 Chatham, Kent.
On the 1901 Census & before they married, Charlotte is visiting the family of John T IRELAND at Maidstone Kent.

I'm interested in what happened after 1901,  did Charlotte & John have any children and can they be found on the 1911 Census.

Any help appreciated - Sashar

This may be of interest, the parents of Charlotte Mary,

Thomas Attwood and Julia Letitia Squibb, married on 25 December 1878 at Minster in Sheppey.

He was 25, of Newington, the son of William a Labourer.

She was 22, of Halfway House, the daughter of Thomas a Boilermaker.

Thanks Tony, I had their marriage but not occupations of their fathers.   I've been following the Attwood side of things.
Charlotte's father Thomas Attwood died 1878 and her mother Julia later remarried in 1897 to a Frederick A LARKIN.   Fred must have been born c1856 as he was 41 when he married Julia in 1897, his father Alfred.   Apart from the marriage of Julia and Fred LARKIN I haven't found anything else about Fred with a father Alfred.
In 1901 Julia LARKIN is with her children Hector & Julia but I can't find Fred.
Lost them in 1911 as well.
Julia died as LARKIN in 1936, I have those details, her probate says (wife of Frederick) and probate is not to him.
Thanks again for your input - Sashar

Just an update to say I have found the family under LARKING.
Fred's birth also under LARKING so just his marriage as LARKIN.

Thanks for all your help............Sashar  ;)

For whatever reason the Squibb family appear to change surname to Barnett!  Squibb in 1851 and then on the 1861 census they are recorded as Barnett!  In 1871 Julia Letitia is again a Barnett!  In 1881 the remaining family still goes under the name Barnett.

Oh what a tangled .................  ???

Oh, I didn't check back that far for the Squibb family but did find back in the 1861 Census, Frederick LARKIN was a boarder with a Mary SQUIBB at Halfway Houses, Minster in Sheppey.   You sent me the info that Julia was living at Halfway House when she married Thomas Attwood in 1878.

A very strange tangled web indeed.........thanks Tony
