Seems unlikely, but was there another Michael CONDRAN arrived as a convict? Pardon granted 20 Nov 1837, but he arrived on the Lord Sidmouth (according to this)?

Ok, getting myself confused - I can see your problem with the surname! Here is Michael CONRAN (Royal Admiral) ticket of leave 1838
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article2547432

If there are 2 men in the colony then with very similar names at the same time, I think it could make your research very difficult! Maybe you need to go back a step and make sure you have the right Michael?

Sorry that is the wrong Michael Condran, For years we thought that was our Michael Condran, but ours came here by the name of Michael Conran on his Convict papers.
[/qu

That is the Michael "Conran", conviction 1832, ship Royal Admiral, original document says he is 23 but the transcript says 21. Arrival year 1833. Prisoner Number 33/2592.  Certificate of freedom, 10 December 1839, Michael Conran, Prisoner Number 33/2592.

Athlone town straddles two counties.
If he was RC.
St.Marys Athlone Westmeath parish records start 1813
http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0178

St.Peter's Athlone Roscommon parish records start 1789
http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0538

If he was baptised in St.Mary's before 1813 you won't find him but may find other children to the same parents.
Unless they traveled to the other side of the world most people were born, married and died in the same general area.

If all your records are of Michael CONDRAN, do you think it more likely that he was the convict on the Lord Sidmouth (2)? In that case, there are these details, born 1786 Kings county:
http://members.pcug.org.au/~ppmay/cgi-bin/irish/irish.cgi?requestType=Search2&id=4753

The father's name on the death cert you have is still valid, as CONDRAN, but maybe you had the wrong convict, and subsequent date of birth and county? What age does it have on his death cert? Just a suggestion.  ;)

Didn't realise it was such a common name! There was also a Michael CONDRON arrived on the John Barry in 1821, born 1797 in Limerick.

Yes that is him Michael Coman/Conran.
His Ticket of Leave, Convict Muster Roll, Certificate of Leave, etc all have YOB as 1811/1812
Michael Conran was born in 1811/1812, Married in 1848 and Died in 1882 at the age of 72yrs.
He married a Convict's daughter in NSW, Australia, had 11 children whom all live in Australia and has several thousand decendents. There are probably more than 50 people who are researching his Family. But none has a Birth or Baptism document.
If he was the other Michael Condran born in 1786 the age does not match his Death age of 72yrs old in 1882.   Thank you Robyn

Ok, that's fine. I just wanted to check what it said on the death cert, although only as accurate as the informant knew, does it show a place of birth? or just Ireland?.

Just wondering if you have the marriage cert and what info that might have, assuming its Michael CONRAN and Mary A HANLEY in 1848, (Roman Catholic in the Maitland area). I'm not disregarding the convict records, but just want to be sure it's the right man.

Can you list all the information on the death certificate please. It should ask for "years in the colony". Who is the informant.

Can you list all the information on the marriage certificate please. Witnesses names are useful, also can you indicate if Michael and Mary sign, or does it record "their mark".
