James Wood 1843-1918 Cullen Banffshire

James Wood - grandfather to my wife seems to have disappeared in 1901, being not found in the Census but reappeared in 1911.     Any trace of him would be appreciated

Could you please give us more information on James Wood. e.g. date of birth, marriage etc.

Are you looking for a death for him or just where he was when the 1901 census was taken.

Is it the James Wood that married Christina McKenzie in 1874 ?

I assume that, since your title says 1843-1918, that these are his dates of birth and death, and therefore that you already have the relevant baptism record and death certificate?

Also that you have found him in the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1911 censuses, and are only missing him in 1901?

I take it that he was the James Wood married to Christina Mackenzie, parents of at least 12 children (according to LIBINDX http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/people/mainfilter.asp )
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

James Wood was my wife's grandfather and appeared in all Census returns from 1851 to 1911 except for 1901.    His wife was described as Head of House that year so I am hoping that there may be somebody who knows what happened to him at that time.     With my thanks   BAK

Where is Cullen - it sounds faintly Scottish  :)  Or I might be thinking of the Skink!
