Jenks / Jinks in Staffordshire (Stafford)

Evening All,

I need your help! I'm getting stuck on my Jinks/Jenks line of my family tree. If you're on Ancestry it's 'Robertson Family Research' - but I'm certain with

MARTHA JENKS b. 1861 who was the daughter of EDWIN JENKS b.1851 who was the son of RICHARD JENKS.

I found a newspaper article with a lot of those and also pariah registers for marriage info, BUT struggling to grasp the flip flop of Jenks and jinks sometimes Jenkes and making sure I have the right people.

I *Think* it's the family around Acton Trussell?

Have you obtained any certificates in relation to the family?   Whereabouts in the family line are you getting a bit stuck?

There is a transcript of Edwin and Martha's marriage on Find My Past which confirms Edwin's father as Richard.

Hello! Yes. I already have those bits...but thank you, it's reassuring!

Basically, I'm stuck at finding sources for Richard Jenks and certifying if his father was Thomas.

So you may already have the burial information for Richard, but in case you haven't:-

Buried on 19 June 1861 at St. James, Acton Trussell, Staffs - aged 69 - birth year given as 1792.

Right, well this looks to be Richard's baptism:-

Richard JINKS, baptised 14 March 1792 at Acton Trussell and Bednall, Staffs. father Thomas JINKS

You have to bear in mind that people quite often wrote what they heard and if the people being baptised or married couldn't read, they wouldn't know if the name had been written correctly.

I'll see if I can find any siblings for Richard.

Ooo well I've found four other Jinks baptisms with father Thomas.  They are:-

John Jinks baptised 6 February 1785

Ann Jinks baptised 18 March 1787

Henery Jinks baptised 1 January 1795

Benjamin Jinks baptised 4 June 1797

Richard is in between Ann and Henery.
