Beck / Struthers Marriage - Can anyone help
« on: Wednesday 28 June 17 14:52 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I've been trying to find a marriage between Mathew Beck (born 1842 in Wallsend) and Margaret Struthers (born 1847 in Linlithgow, Scotland) but can't find any trace of one. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Michael

If the marriage is not traceable in English records, have you looked at ScotlandsPeople?

When do you first have them on census as married

As avm suggests, they married in Scotland, Linlithgow, in 1874.

Wow!

That was so quick I couldn't even answer questions. Thank you all.

The 1881 census is the first one I have seen them on, I haven't got access to Scotland's people so no, and yes George is their eldest of 8 children (and also my great grandfather).

I did spot a Matthew Beck on the 1871 census in Scotland as a lodger but can only guess that it may be him.

Jen B where did you find that information? (Just so I know where to look next time).

Thanks again everyone,

Michael

Scotland's People (as suggested by avm228 in reply #1) I did a free search  :)

I haven't got access to Scotland's people

Scotland's People is a pay-per-view site, so anyone can have access to it  :) It isn't a subscription site like Ancestry or FindMyPast.

Brilliant, I've just signed up and seen it as well.

I thought you couldn't use that site unless you had credits, thanks a lot.
