Thomas Parrott, Bassalleg, Rogerstone
« on: Monday 24 July 17 05:01 BST (UK) »
Greetings, looking for any information on Thomas Parrott, born at Celyetty (sp?) Monmouthshire ~1783, and his family. The birth place is suggested from the 1851 Bassalleg, Rogerstone census.  The 1851 census information indicates that he was married, agricultural labourer, living at Pwll Coch, Bassalleg, hamlet of Rogerstone, with wife Elizabeth (60, b at Llanbadock, Monmouths), son Abel Parrott (36, b at Mamhilad, Monmouthshire), widower, agr labourer, and grandchildren: Charlotte Parrott (13, b at Mymelad (sp?), Monmouths), John (10, b at Mymelad (sp?), Monmouths), and William (5, b at Mymelad (sp?), Monmouths).

A search of FreeReg suggests Thomas may have been born ~1783 and living in Mamhilad, Monmouthshire between 1803 and 1813, as three children (of Thomas and Elizabeth Parrott) are baptised between these dates: Anne, baptised 3 Oct 1803; Abel, baptised 10 Jan 1810; and Mary, baptised at Mamhilad, Monmouths 20 Dec 1813.

thanx for your time and assistance,
cheers,
ian

there's a possible baptism in Llanfair Kilgedin for a Thomas Perrot bp 5 May 1791 son of John. I wonder if the place of birth from 1851 which looks a bit like Cilgetty is a version of Kilgedin.

I was just looking at possible marriage for John and noticed one in Cwmyoy 17 Dec 1773 pf John Perrott & Joan Thomas and one of the witnesses was an Abel Perott. Too much of a coincidence?

That Abel Perrot was baptised in Cwmyoy 10 Feb 1750-1, son of another Abel who was of Cwmyoy when he married Anne Jones of Mamhilad in Trevethin  16 May 1746.
John, son of Abel Perot, was baptised 26 Feb 1748-9 in Cwmyoy

Thank you Osprey. I had most of the data you indicated. However, the spouse's name and marriage date for Abel was very helpful.  Information suggests that Abel Perrott, b at Cymyoy 1717, is the son of John Perrot (poss born at Cymyoy ~1695) and Margaret.  Other related? Perrots born at Cymyoy around 1700 may include Sarah Perrot and Martha Perrot.

I really need to get access to the Cymyoy birth, marriage, and burial records to find info on John Perrot and earlier related Perrots.

cheers,
ian

Hi Ian, are the Thomas/Elizabeth in 1841 the same as those in 1851?

Hi again, the reason I askd is that if 1841 family is the same as 1851 why do the ages of Thomas/Elizabeth show as 60 in  both 1841/51?

Also who therefore was the Elizabeth Parratt who died Dec qtr 1851 Newport aged 71, when/where did Thomas die?

it appears that 1841 age is correct. Therefore correct 1851 age should read 70 or 71 (the latter agrees with the Elizabeth death reg in DEc qtr 1851.
