do not understand the site Forces war records.

Hello,

maybe I am being a bit thick  :)

I have just joined " Forces war records "

I cannot tell how it can help Me  ???  if I search a name , many come up,

but by clicking through them , I would be guessing which one might be my relatives.

as hardly any of them give addresses or information, only name and rank and maybe when they
joined , How am I suppose to know if they are mine or not  ???

am I missing something really obvious  :)

there goes my very hard earned cash, :o

I now feel like a right idiot , I could have bought a load of sweet's instead  ;)

I had many email's from them asking Me to subscribe etc , I had even pressed the don't contact Me button lots of times , this time though I thought " what the heck, just go for it "

They kept pestering me for money, so I took down the photograph of my father's platoon and tried a couple of names without success. I therefore concluded that their records were far from encyclopedic, and left my account untouched.

Hi Eilleen

Sorry I can't help with how to search the site, I only tried a free search on it a while back and the name I was looking for was not that common and all I got in response were the records I already had plus mention of WW2 records which I knew would not be available.

Hopefully someone will come on to this thread and be able to answer your question.  Looking at some other threads people have found what they needed on there it might be worth looking at the threads on rootschat about the site in case you can find an answer.  I saw that one poster on here does not advise paying for extra research.

If you have taken a subscription please make sure it does not auto renew.
