I'm currently trying to locate a birth for Betty Hiss could also be Heir since her marriage record is hard to correctly read the last name. She married Richard Hartnell in Wellington Somerset in 1802 and lists her as a spinster it said she was from the parish in Clayhidon Devon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Somerset Burial index suggests she was buried at Wellington 1833 with a birth of 1775.

Could the surname read HILL? A Robert HILL married a Charity CHARD at Clayhidon 6 Oct 1767.
I'm having trouble locating the 1802 marriage in Wellington - it's not on FREEREG or in Phillimores. A James HARTNELL married in Wellington in 1802, but not a Richard.

The record that I had come across for the marriage was from the Somerset, England, Marriage Registers, Bonds and Allegations, 1754-1914 date being 21st of March 1802 in Wellington Somerset. Listing Richard Hartnell and Betty but her last name is quite difficult to determine which correct spelling it is. It could be possible also that he went by a middle name instead of his first name.

Well that explains why I couldn't find the marriage in Wellington - it took place in Clayhidon!
