Old Workhouse, The Avenue, Frindsbury

I have an Ancestor in The Old Workhouse, The Avenue, Frindsbury in the 1911 Census and I am having trouble working out what this was, he was a boarder. He was later admitted to the Strood Union Workhouse in 1913 where he died in 1916. Does anyone know where the Old Workhouse or The Avenue were?

Thanks, I've looked at that and that's certainly where he died, it's the old workhouse, the avenue where he was in 1911 that's confusing me

'The Old Workhouse' does not appear to be an institution.  :-\  Could you please give a name for this person.   It just looks like normal housing to me.

It is possible when viewing the 1911 entries for a household to also look at the schedule of properties. This should give some idea where in Frinsbury the property is situated

There are 4 properties with the address "Old Workhouse" on the 1911 census. In the column headed "Kind of Building" each is described as a "Private House".

I stand to be corrected if someone has better knowledge.
   By my reckoning the Old Work House you are referring to ,stood with its yard on the right hand side as you went up Frindsbury Road. Roughly between Grove road  and Station Road. I should think where all the 1930,s and more recent housing is now.
    To find on current maps Leave from  Strood High Street on Gun Lane . Join Finsbury Road heading up towards Frindsbury Hill . Grove Road and Station Road are on your right.

Frederick Cogger is his name and I agree it looks like normal housing but seemed very unlikely it would be named the Old Workhouse merely as a quaint name ;)

Agreed, I am trying to find out where they were and why they were called the Old Workhouse
