Beresford C Scott research
« on: Wednesday 23 August 17 12:36 BST (UK) »
Hello to you all,
I am looking for any information on a man that I think may be related to me via my Grandfather. His name is Beresford Cazenove Scott born in 1848 and died 1907 in Middlesex, St Clements Dane. My grand father Beresford Cazenove Thorne had a photo of his late Father on the wall when I was a child which looked like Beresford Scott in his Naval uniform but Scott is listed as having not married and having no children. Can anyone help me please?
Many thanks.

Hi EskaAssaki,

Do you have your grandfather on any census returns or have his birth/marriage certs?

It's helpful to know what you do have so that we don't repeat things ;)

Welcome to RC!

I think that Beresford Thorne was born to Charles William and Alice Ann Elizabeth Thorne c. 1902 in Saltash; what was Alice's maiden name - could the connection be through her?

Did Beresford Scott leave anything to your family when he died

Have you checked whether Charles William Thorne served with Beresford C Scott.  He may just have named his son after him.  :-\

Hello EskaAssaki,  Beresford Cazanove Thorne was recorded as the son of Charles Thorne and Alice Ann Garner.  Alice Ann was Charles' third wife although his second wife Alice Teresa was still alive, when Alice Ann and Chares started their "married life".  It looks like a complicated life-story, I wonder where and if Beresford Cazanove Scott did fit in somewhere - if he was born in 1848, he seems to be the same age as your great grandfather, Charles.
