Barnabas Harris
« on: Friday 22 September 17 21:56 BST (UK) »
I'm searching for a birth record for Barnabas, born 1764, died in Salisbury 1842. I have found christening records for 3 likely siblings, Jenny chr 1771, Richard1777and Robert 1782 all born to Barnabas and Ann and christened at St. Edmunds Salisbury.
The closest record I can find on IGI is for a Bernard Harrison, son of Bernard and Ann, chr 1764 St.Edmunds, but no image is available so do not know if this is a mistranscription.
Any help gratefully received!

Hi

Unfortunately it isn't transcribed incorrectly

25 July 1764 - Bernard son of Bernard & Ann Harrison.

There were another two children to Bernard & Ann -  Ann Harrison bpt. 31 Oct 1767  &  Betsy bpt. 8 Feb 1769.

Bernard Harrison married Ann Lewis 27 Nov 1763, Salisbury, St Edmund.

Have you found a marriage for Barnabas Harris, because I can't see one  ???

Thanks for confirming that transcription Claire.

I haven't found a marriage for this Barnabas and Ann.

There is a marriage of Barnabas to Ann Batchelor in 1784 at St Martin's, which I think must be a first marriage of Barnabas junior. Then from 1790 onwards there are several births, which are my family, to Barnabas and Elizabeth, but again no trace of a marriage.

I'm wondering if it is the same man Barnabas - Bernard  & Harris - Harrison.

I was looking into a Bernat/ Bernard Pearson in Lincolnshire yesterday- found his baptism as Barnaby.

So suppose it's possible.

Hi Claire,
So much for me thinking a Barnabas would be easy to trace compared with my many John's and Robert's!
