Do you have a subscription to Ancestry?  If so he is on there but I can't look as I don't have a sub any more.

Ancestry have the name as E J Bahnish.

Hello Jase and welcome to rootschat.

Have you tried searching on Trove? BAHNISCH is a name that appears a lot in SA, although I can't see anything for "E J BAHNISCH" in 1916. What is the full name?
http://trove.nla.gov.au/

For example, there is an item showing a car registration for E J BAHNISCH of Loxton in 1919
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article60907660
(in the third column of writing, top third of the page. "#02798"

Quite a few other mentions if this the right person too.  ;)

The reference given indicates that it is from an Archives CD Book CD published by Goulds in S,A.

The State Library of SA should have it. You could use their Ask a Librarian service to check it for you if nobody on RC has it.

I suspect it may be the man in this SA marriage.

1919   281/456
BAHNISCH Ernst Julius
To DRABSCH Gertrude Sophia
At Wellington

A lengthy newspaper description of this event is available if of interest. ;D
But as it is not related to the inquiry, I shall not post the link just now.

The item under inquiry in the South Australian Police Gazette is the inclusion -

BAHNISCH, E J  --- Loxton

Registered owner of a Motor Cycle.
Nothing else.
