In Memory of my Great Uncle, Private William Taylor, born in Aberdeen, Scotland, son of John and Jessie Taylor, the fifth of their 12 children (six of their sons served in WW1).  William emigrated to Australia in 1911 and joined the Australian Imperial Force, 16th Infantry Battalion, in December 1915. He married Jane Palmer Payne on Australia Day, January 1916 and eight weeks later, joined his regiment. William fell at Menin Road, Ypres, on 28th September 1917.  William was dearly missed by his parents and family in Aberdeen and Australia. His loving wife Janie died in 1980 aged 86, having never remarried.
