Gunner Albert Franks regiment 116063 c/317 Royal Field Artillery
« on: Saturday 11 November 17 21:31 GMT (UK) »
In memory of my 2nd great uncle, Albert Franks, who was killed in action 100 years ago on November 1, 1917.  He is buried in Duhallow ADS cemetery in Belgium.

Uncle Albert was born in 1895 in Wellington, Shropshire, UK.  He was the son of James and Agnes Franks.  He grew up with several brothers and sisters, including my great grandfather, Alexander.  At age 16, he was an apprentice boiler maker.

He was awarded both the British War Medal and the Victory Medal for his bravery.
