Jonw65 Thank you for that info.
There are several Hannah Baldocks about that time. It is difficult to distinguish them.
I agree with you. The Sussex Parish Registers confirm that a Hannah Baldock was buried at Salehurst in 1854, which makes her born circa 1799, which is close to her christening date of 1798. There is a difference in spelling her name, with the parish registers recording a double n, and the EW BMD suggesting there was only a single n. Nevertheless probably the same and right person.
The Hannah Baldock who died in 1851 reg Ticehurst vol 7-363 appears to have been only 1 year of age, so she is not our Hannah. Clearly that was an error on my part. Grateful to you for pointing it out.
Hannah Baldock probably died between 1851-61 because she appears in the 1851 Census residing at Hurst Green, but is absent from the 1861 census. The 1851 census says…
Hannah Baldock 51 married Laundress b. Salehurst
Samuel Baldock 24 son single Gardener b Salehurst
Georgina Hope Baldock 16 daughter single b. Salehurst
The remaining children have the right names so it is definitely her. Her husband Thomas Baldock is missing and he was also missing in the 1841 census. Does anyone know what happened to him?
