Hi

Looking for the parents of this man who was baptised c1776 Bedford. He married Susan Horn in 1799 at St Mary Bedford.

What's the evidence that he was baptised in Bedford?

All Beds baptisms pre 1813 are on the IGI, but he doesn't appear.

Did he survive until a census?

The IGI shows her surname as Thorn

Marriage transcription on FindMyPast states her maiden name was Thorn rather than Horn!   Just because he was married in Bedford doesn't mean he was born there.

Since children were baptised at Cambridge I would suggest that Robert Chapel (lots of variants on spelling) was the Robert Chappel bp.26/11/1775 Littleport, Cambridge, son of William and Jane.
