Hi, There is a Eliza Townly living in Bloxworth in 1841 before they were married, her age is given as 25-29.
She is a governess, so unlikely to be the same family.
Need help. John married an Eliza in the Dec quarter in Wareham 1844. There are two entries for this marriage. I am guessing one is not correct.
Given that there are John Burden, John Burder, Eliza Tunley and Eliza Henley among the six names, I imagine they are the same marriage with two or more entries mistranscribed.
Eliza always gives her place of birth as Weymouth and there are two possible baptisms:
Elizabeth Fendley bap Dec 1821 d William (sailor) and Anne
Eliza Fendley bap July 1820 d Simon (labourer) and Elizabeth
The former is in the 1841 census with her father and sister, but all three are also there in 1851, so it can't be her.
The second one was baptised at the same time as her brother, Simon. Their father, Simon, died in 1838 aged 48 in the poor house. Their mother is probably the Elizth Findley, 56, living in Weymouth (HO107/295/18) who died in 1875. Simon Jr was a sailor as he appears in a hospital register in 1849, aged 32. Simon FINDLEY and Elizabeth HOLLETT married in 1817.
