1851 Gosforth, Northumberland request please, CARR
« on: Sunday 07 August 05 12:47 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help please?
I am trying to fathom out the story of a wealthy CArr family, living at Roseworth House/Cottage in 1851 and possibly 1841 or anything to help with the family history at all.
I have found a website which indicates John CARR born 1799 Jane susannah PARR but my own research links to a Jane susannah BARTON, this name is carried through several generations.

John & Jane would have had a son Henry born 1845 in Newcastle On Tyne and christened in Gosforth.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Sue

Hi Sue

I'm not sure what you're after, but here goes !

1841 Census

Roseworth, Coxlodge
CARR John 40 Ind Yes (born in County)
CARR Jane 34 No
CARR Margaretta 8 Yes
GREY John 50 Ind Yes
LUMSDEN Jane 35 FS Yes

I don't have access to the 1851, but the CARR's are still at Roseworth in 1861.

RG9/3853  Folio 29  Page 3  Sch 14
John is 61, a Coal Owner and Justice of the Peace, born Ford Northumberland
Jane Susannah is 55, born Carlton Yorkshire
plus an assortment of servants.

Let me know if you want the full details.

Helen,
Thanks very much for your reply.
I was actually after 1851 just to prove whether ar not Henry born 1845 was born into this family but the 1841 does help to follow it all through.

I have 1861 onwards but thanks for the offer.

Sue
