Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply.  So it looks like a genuine clerical error after all. 
I never looked at the the mother's maiden name of the birth record above John Brady's Birth!

Michael Brady & Bridget Conboy on 1911 Dublin Census.
States Married 38 Years, had 18 children born, 8 still  living. 
I've found 14 children of theirs now.

This one could be one of mine too as the witneeses fit into my family tree.
I have several John Brady's so don't know which one he is!  My Martha Brady didn't marry until Nov 1903.  Michael Brady is recorded as a small contractor on another certificate I have too. I also have several Daniel Brady's in my tree.


Marriage 24 Feb 1903  at RC Chapel St Pauls' ?Quay Dublin North.
Daniel Brady full, Bachelor Painter  of 4 Church Lane, off Kevin street.
Father Michael Brady Small Contractor.
Spouse Harriett Sowers minor, spinster of 9 Wood Lane.
Father Wiliam Sowers Soldier.
