The Boulton family Reading abt 1914 or after war in 1918
« on: Sunday 29 April 18 16:26 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I have this lovely picture of my great grandmother and her brothers from either just before or just after ww1.
Something has happened to the bottom of it and I wondered if anyone might be able to help to fix it please?

Best wishes Emma

Emma, I don't know if you are aware but this photo and the next one of Henry J Sweetland are on the wrong page on the forum. These two have been posted to the Photograph resources, Tips and Tutorials page instead of the Free Photo Restoration and date photos page. Your other two photos are on the correct page. Not many restorers check this page, so you wont get many replies.
If I were you I would contact Sarah the Moderator and ask her to move these two photos over. You can get in touch with her if you click on the red 'Contact Support' at the foot of the HOME page.
In the meantime here is my attempt at the Boulton family.
Bownass - Lancashire & Westmorland
Hoggarth - Lancashire & Westmorland
Jackson- Lancaster
Waller - Dent, Yorkshire dales
Omerod - Lancashire
Redburn - Lancashire
Evans - Hereford

RESTORERS please do not use my restores without my permission THANK YOU

Dear Peter and Trishanne,

Thank you for your restorations, the picture looks great and you can see their lower bodies properly again! Thank you ever so much :)

At the bottom strip, there's less sharpness, the tone is bit too light on the men and too dark on the woman. The strip has a brownish colour. Can't do much about the sharpness but I've tried to correct the other things.
Photo restorers may re-use and improve on my posted versions. Acknowledgement appreciated.

Not sure if you'll like this but after cleaning the photo, I adjusted the contrast to keep the sepia tone but not make the skin so blindingly white. Also did some work to reduce the fade at the bottom.

Hope you enjoy!
I just like to do photo restores.
