Eva Williams

Eva Williams born Portsmouth Hampshire 1883. Father James Williams, mother Jane Margaret Guest. I have her on the 1891 and 1901 census but not the 1911 census. Thought she had died in 1916 but that is incorrect, so she may have got married. Can't seem to find anything matching her birth address and age. Can anyone help?

Have you ruled out the Eva Williams marriage in Portsmouth Dec qtr 1909?

Husband was Percy Andrew Hocking.

Eva Hocking died aged 78 in Portsmouth, Sep qtr 1961.

Thanks for all the help. I found Eva Hocking on the 1911 census but it shows her age as 38 years old which makes her birth date 1873!. Yet Eva Hocking died in 1961 at 78 years (born 1883!). I need to a bit more investigation.

Are you looking at the census image or just the transcription?

Hi Jebber. Thanks for reply. The transcription says birth year 1873 (estimated) and the event is Fareham. Incidentally, Andrew Percy Hocking is working at the same place.

That is a perfect example of never relying on a transcription when the actual image is available.

The Genealogist and Ancestry have the correct transcription, only Findmypast is wrong.

Thankyou everyone for your help. I'm adding Percy to my tree ( Percy Andrew not Andrew Percy, my mistake!!!)
